Antique Ersari Turkmen Main Carpet Fragment, Unusual Star Design, 2nd Half 19th Century.

Size: 6ft 9in x 4ft 9in (206 x 145cm).

Antique Ersari Turkmen main carpet fragment from Southern Turkmenistan or Northern Afghanistan.

2nd half 19th century.

This is an interesting fragment from a small known group of Ersari carpets with an all over star design. The carpet has a deep red field with the stars in octagons either with a dark indigo blue or an ivory background, the large stars are separated by smaller stars,

The carpet is in poor condition with even wear and medium pile, the carpet is missing the borders on the left hand side and has losses all around along with some holes and other damages.

This is an interesting study piece that would also display well.

The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for display.
