Antique Tekke Turkmen Carpet of Unusual Large Size, Good Colour, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 12ft 8in x 7ft 3in (385 x 220cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen main carpet with 5 rows of 16 guls.

Circa 1900.

The carpet is of a very unusual size, being longer than most that are available. The carpet is of a deep burgundy red colour with soft pink red to the guls and border. The border is a traditional Turkmen octagon design with many interesting elements.

The carpet is in good condition with even wear heavier in a few places, with medium to low pile. There is a small old stain in the top left hand corner in the border, this can only be seen with close inspection, (see image).

The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.

The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use.
