Antique Tekke Turkmen Main Carpet, Full Pile, Soft Wool, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 9ft 11in x 7ft 0in (303 x 214cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen main carpet with 4 rows of 14 guls.

Circa 1900.

The carpet has a brick red ground colour which gives the carpet a very warm feel. The guls are well drawn and cochineal dye is used in the central quartered design. The border is a traditional Turkmen octagon design with many interesting elements.

The carpet is in excellent condition with slight even wear with good pile. There are a number of small old repairs that have slightly faded, these can be seen in the images.

Both ends retain the original kilim end finishes.

The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.

The carpet has been hand washed and is ready for use.
