Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The drawers with ring handles, run well and have fine boxwood and ebony stringing. This stringing is continued on the sides of the chest, an indication of a high quality piece. The condition of the chest is very good, it stands well with no wobbles. There is a very minor short crack to the top, this can be seen in the photographs with very careful scrutiny, it is commensurate with age and use and does not detract from the appearance of the chest. This is an outstanding example of Georgian design and would work as a dressing table or elegant addition to a reception room or hall.
