Antique South Persian Afshar Tribal Saddle Bag, Filled as a Floor Cushion, Circa 1900.

Description

Size: 2ft 9in x 2ft 0in (85 x 60cm).

Antique South Persian saddle bag by the Afshar tribe, complete with plain weave back, filled as a large cushion.

Circa 1900.

The bag face has a unusual and most interesting design of compartments each containing an eight point star, the bag is complete with plain weave back and traditional Afshar brocaded lappets at the top. The bag has been simply filled and secured at the top for use as a cushion.

The bag is in good condition with very slight even wear and good pile. The bag has a superb range of colours.

The bag face has been hand washed and is ready for display.
