Description

Size: 6ft 8in x 4ft 5in (204 x 135cm).

Old rug from the Greater Hamadan region of North West Persia, probably from the village of Gharaghan, with an unusual variant of the Gymyl design and superb colour.

Circa 1920.

The design is most unusual, with a very long hooked medallion related in design to rugs from the Shirvan village of Gymyl.

The colours throughout the rug are clear and bright with wonderful blues and soft reds.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. This is a thick heavy rug with tight weave.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use.
