C19th Italian bronze sculpture of a prancing horse in the Renaissance manner, mounted on a stepped 'rouge griotte' marble plinth base.

Interesting bronze of a prancing stallion after a model by Giambologna, with detailed cast mane and tail . The slightly twisted neck showing defined musculature, and the body with hair detail .

Mounted upon a block of figured rouge griotte marble with a stepped base.

Bronze prancing horse studies were completed by a number of leading sculptors during the Italian Renaissance, including Giambologna and Francesco Fanelli , this particular sculpture draws its inspiration and influence from those studies and from the four iconic quadrants horse sculptures above St. Mark's Basilica, St. Mark's Square , Venice ,Italy.

In excellent condition , with consistent patina.
