Old Persian Shiraz Region Tribal Rug, Qashqai or Khamseh Weavers, Medallion Design, Circa 1920.

Description

Size: 6ft 3in x 4ft 10in (190 x 147cm).

Old South West Persian tribal rug, Shiraz region, probably by settled weavers from the Khamseh or Qashqai tribe.

Circa 1920

A good rug with a linked triple medallion design. The light indigo blue medallions are on a dark madder ground. The rug is filled with tribal elements such as animals, birds, flowers and shrubs. The borders are very well drawn and help to give the rug a very warm and rustic feel.

Very good condition with very slight even wear and good pile. The wool is very soft and glossy.

Hand washed and ready for use.

An excellent furnishing rug suitable for normal domestic use.
