Antique South West Persian Shekarlu Qashqai Rug, Excellent Design, Soft Wool, a Superb Rug. Circa 1880.

Description

Size: 7ft 8in x 4ft 9in (234 x 146cm).

Antique Shekarlu Qashqai rug of classic design.

Circa 1880.

This classic Shekarlu has a field full of tribal motifs, including shrubs, flowers, animals and birds, and the Shekarlu comb design.

The array of colours is outstanding including yellows, soft blues, reds and greens. The border is of typical Shekarlu design, both ends have the original long kilim end finishes and plaited tassels. The rug has a soft floppy handle.

The carpet is in excellent condition with very slight wear and almost full pile.

Hand washed and ready for use or display.

The rug is suitable for light domestic use.
