An Exquisite Japanese Mixed Metal Study Of Mandarin Ducks

As part of our Japanese art collection we are delighted to offer this most charming study of a pair of Oshidori (Mandarin ducks) upon a rocky outcrop beside a stream , the ducks themselves are cast from solid silver with the feather detailing multi patinated in gold and shakudo to a very fine standard ,even the ducks tiny eyes are picked out in gold and shakudo, the pair stand upon a multi coloured bronze landscape beside a silvered flowing stream ,Oshidori are very loyal birds highly revered in Japan and seen as a sign of lifelong companionship, he appears to be protecting her as she ventures towards the waters edge, an absolutely delightful Japanese okimono from the late Meiji period.
