Henry Valter (Fl. 1854 - 1897)
He exhibited in London between 1854 - 1864. His Suffolk Street exhibits included "Port Saint Nicholas, on the Rhone", 1859, £21; "Castle of Monas, Burgundy" 1860, £21; "Palace of the Inquisitors and Castle of the Popes, Avignon", £26.5s, and "Fort of St Sebastian, Island of Camarque, Delta of the Rhone", 1864, £35. He showed 100 works at the RBSA between 1875-97. Brook-Hart said of him, "His marine pictures are professionally competent although inclined to be over-filled". He was the brother of Frederick E. Valter, and his addresses were recorded as 282, Pershore Road, Belgrave Road and Bristol Road, Birmingham.
