Description

Size: 3ft 7in x 3ft 6in (109 x 108cm).

Antique Tekke Turkmen ‘dowry rug’ of small square size, it is considered that these rugs covered the seat of the bride during her wedding. They were then kept as ‘dowry’ weavings.

Late 19th century.

This small rug has 3 rows of 6 large round guls.

It is very well drawn, it has a fine weave and a very floppy handle, the quality of the wool and the colours are outstanding.

The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear with good pile.

The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
