A wheel barometer is a meteorological instrument popular in the 19th century that uses a mercury siphon system to indicate atmospheric pressure, displaying readings on a circular dial.

These instruments typically feature solid wood frames such as rosewood, mahogany, or oak, frequently decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay, brassbezels, and silvered metal dials.

Authenticity is determined by examining the construction methods, hand-engraved brass or silvered dials, original mercury tubes, maker signatures, and the ageing characteristics of the timber and glass.

A wall barometer serves as a striking focal point when hung in traditional studies, hallways, or living rooms, contrasting effectively against neutral wall colours.

Keep the instrument away from direct sunlight, extreme temperature fluctuations, and moisture. Clean the wooden case periodically with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding harsh chemical polishes.
