Finest Quality Maple & Co Satinwood Dressing Table

Quite simply the most magnificent quality Edwardian satinwood dressing table that we have ever owned or indeed seen , i dont quite know where to begin with the description , the photos do not do it justice.

This satinwood serpentine shaped piece of bedroom furniture bears a tablet of the retailers Maple & Co ltd London and Paris and would probably have been made as a special order to be this extravegant.

The kneehole base standing on tapered legs with spade feet consisting of seven shaped fully lockable drawers all lined in a pretty padded material over the solid hardwood linings , the base also has the added and quite unusual feature of a pull out brushing slide inset a green tooled writing surface,the makers have gone to the trouble of fitting a vanity board even though the piece is designed for wall standing , the original cast brass drop handles are surmounted with bows , each drawer is inlaid with ebony and satinwood stringing, then further crossbanded with various multi coloured exotic timbers in a striped fashion to match the remainder of the carcass , above the surface sits a pair of shaped mirror boxes each housing two drawers again fully lined and lockable , the arms giving rise to a pair of pineapple finials and supporting the original mirror glass in its superb crossbanded oval frame , the back is solid mahogany and bears the retailers label , the arms and mirror unscrew for transport and delivery.

The condition is untouched for over 110 yrs , the piece once stood on low casters although at 30" the top is a perfect height in our opinion , there is plenty of knee room when sat on a stool, casters could be re fitted if required , the original mirror is slightly misty and foxed but perfectly useable , there are minimal other useage marks but please consider this is original unmolested by the trade and at the time the very best money could buy !!!

It could be yours for life , you just would not sell it .
