Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The piece features three arched panel doors fitted with small round wooden knobs, enclosing a hanging section with a lift-up lid to a storage box below on the left, alongside two short drawers, two long drawers, and four linen slides on the right. A working lock and key secure the right side doors, and the construction disassembles into several sections for transportation. The wardrobe measures 206 cm in height, 185 cm in width, and 54 cm in depth, with a hanging space height of 145.5 cm. It provides substantial storage for clothing and linens in a bedroom or dressing room.

FAQs

A compactum wardrobe is a comprehensive freestanding storage cabinet introduced during the nineteenth century, designed to consolidate hanging space, shelving, and drawers within a single piece of furniture.

Victorian pine wardrobes were typically constructed using solid Scots pine or yellow pine, joined with hand-cut dovetail joints, tongue-and-groove backboards, and carved panel inserts.

Authentic nineteenth-century pine compactums feature hand-planed surfaces on the rear timber, original iron or brass keyhole escutcheons, hand-cut joinery, and proportional thick moulding around the cornice.

A natural pine wardrobe can be paired with neutral paint palettes, linen textiles, and modern minimalist lighting to create texture and warmth in contemporary interiors.

Maintain pine furniture by applying a high-grade beeswax polish annually, keeping the piece away from direct heat sources to prevent wood movement, and dusting regularly with a soft cloth.
