This 1930s Art Deco gentleman's wristwatch originates from the period of classic utilitarian horology. Constructed from silver, leather, enamel, and glass, the piece presents a polished silver and black colour scheme with a white enamel face, black Roman numerals, and an onion-shaped crown. The visual composition incorporates a coin-edge bezel, blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial, wide silver case lugs holding a black strap, and visible hairline cracks across the dial surface. The round case measures 34 mm in width, 34 mm in height, and 9 mm in depth. Placed on a desk or surface in a library or study, it serves as a functional timepiece and a display object.

During the 1930s, pilot watches evolved to meet the precise demands of early aviation, featuring high-legibility dials, large crowns operated while wearing gloves, and coin-edge rotating bezels for tracking time elapsed.

Wristwatches from this era typically featured silver, nickel, or steel cases, vitreous enamel or metal dials, blued steel hands, and mechanical movements paired with leather straps.

Authentic timepieces display period-correct movement serial numbers, stamped maker marks inside the case back, blued steel hands, and original dial typography, occasionally bearing historical retailer signatures.

An antique wristwatch can be presented inside a glass watch dome, styled on a library desk alongside leather-bound volumes, or arranged within a velvet-lined collection tray.

Mechanical watches require periodic servicing by a specialist horologist, protection from moisture and strong magnetic fields, and gentle cleaning with a soft microfibre cloth.
