This Victorian king size headboard is formed from a combination of iron and brass elements finished in white with gold details. The upper section displays a prominent horizontal brass top rail flanked by spherical brass finials at the corners, alongside a central pendant finial, an arched iron casting framework, and an array of vertical metal spindles interspersed with decorative brass collars. The lower framework incorporates straight vertical bars running down to the base supports. Measuring 168 cm in height, the piece serves as a traditional focal point in a master bedroom styled with classic English country house influences. It attaches directly to a bed base to provide a structured upright backdrop for pillows and cushions, suiting both period properties and contemporary bedrooms seeking a heritage aesthetic.

FAQs

Victorian brass and iron headboards originated in the nineteenth century, combining cast or wrought iron structural frames with decorative brass finials, rails, and ornamental castings.

These pieces were constructed using iron tubing or solid wrought iron rods joined with cast-iron collars, topped with polished brass top rails, vertical spindles, and decorative corner finials.

Authentic Victorian examples feature heavy cast-iron joints, threaded brass fittings, hand-poured iron castings, and signs of age such as natural patina or historical paint layers.

Pairing a Victorian metal headboard with crisp linen bedding and neutral wall shades creates a balanced contrast between traditional metalwork and modern soft furnishings.

Dust painted iron surfaces regularly with a soft cloth and polish unlacquered brass components using dedicated metal cleaner to maintain brightness while preserving the underlying patina.
