Description

An impressive German Art Nouveau painted plaster bust of Sappho, the celebrated ancient Greek poet, after H. L. Bläsche, dating to the early 1900s.

Beautifully modelled with an upward gaze, elaborate laurel wreath and finely detailed classical robes.

Signed to the reverse with the manufacturer's marks of Reps & Trinte, Magdeburg, Germany.

Retaining its attractive aged finish with some minor losses consistent with age. Dimensions: H 65 × W 44 × D 26 cm.
