During the late 18th and early 19th centuries, Indian artists were commissioned by European patrons to produce natural history studies, blending traditional miniature techniques with Western naturalism, often referred to as Company School art.

These works were executed using natural pigment-based watercolours or opaque gouache on hand-woven paper, frequently mounted with paper borders and presented in glazed frames.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-painted brushwork with fine detail, age-related toning or foxing to the paper, laid paper lines under magnification, and natural mineral pigments.

A grouped grid formation on a neutral wall creates a structured focal point in a hallway, library, or dining space, complementing both dark wood furniture and modern silhouettes.

Display these works away from direct sunlight and humid environments, using UV-filtering protective glass and acid-free mounting materials to prevent fading and discoloration.
