Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

During the Victorian era, chests of drawers were constructed from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, featuring classic proportions, turned timber handles, and tiered drawer arrangements designed for substantial bedroom storage.

These pieces were predominantly crafted using solid mahogany frames with figured or flame mahogany veneers on drawer fronts, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints, pine or oak drawer linings, and turned mahogany knobs.

Authentic Victorian chests typically display hand-cut dovetailing inside the drawers, brass or iron locks, original turned wooden handles with threaded wood screws, and natural wear or age patina across timber surfaces.

A Victorian chest of drawers serves as a focal piece in modern bedrooms or hallways when paired with contemporary artwork, minimalist table lamps, or neutral wall tones to balance the dark timber hues.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, avoiding direct sunlight, radiators, and harsh chemical cleaners to protect the mahogany finish.
