This Georgian Welsh dresser and rack from around 1740 originates from Llanrwst. Constructed from oak with a dark brown finish, the piece exhibits fielded panels, swan-neck brass handles, and small spice drawers set above the lower section. The top section incorporates three open plate rack shelves, while the base contains three drawers and three cupboard doors. Brassware dates to the 19th century. Measuring 175 cm high, 175 cm wide, and 55 cm deep, this furniture item suits placement in a dining room or kitchen as a storage and display unit for tableware and decorative items. The rich colour and patina develop over centuries of use, maintaining a traditional rustic farmhouse appearance.

North Wales dressers typically feature an enclosed cupboard base beneath an open plate rack, constructed with fielded panel doors and fitted with brass drop handles characteristic of Georgian regional timber work.

These pieces were primarily constructed from solid native oak, utilising peg-joined mortise and tenon timber framing, hand-dovetailed drawer linings, and hand-forged brass hardware.

Authentic period dressers exhibit hand-planed timber surfaces, age-related shrinkage across drawer bottoms and backboards, original brass handles, and genuine patination around keyholes and wear areas.

Position the dresser as a focal point in a dining space or kitchen, balancing the rich dark oak timber by pairing it with neutral wall finishes and understated modern ceramics.

Position timber away from direct heat sources and radiator units, dust regularly using a dry microfibre cloth, and apply a clear beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain the historic surface finish.
