Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This large triple wardrobe originates from 1930s Germany and exhibits a rustic farmhouse style. Made from natural pine, the piece has a bare wood finish and visible grain patterns throughout. Details include three vertical panelled doors fitted with black iron keyhole escutcheons, a substantial moulded cornice at the top, and three aligned drawers along the base with small turned wooden knobs. The cabinet is supported at the front by large round bun feet. Measuring 209 cm high, 194 cm wide, and 64 cm deep, the wardrobe dismantles fully into sections. In a contemporary home, this large storage unit fits into a bedroom or dressing room, providing substantial hanging space behind the doors and additional storage within the three base drawers. The interior accommodates flexible arrangements with removable shelves and hanging rails according to practical needs. The construction uses natural timber tones that integrate easily into traditional or rustic interior schemes.

FAQs

During the 1930s, pine wardrobes were constructed primarily for practical domestic storage, featuring simple panelled doors, straight cornices, and integrated base drawers. These pieces reflected traditional joinery techniques while offering spacious hanging and drawer space for domestic interiors.

Vintage pine wardrobes commonly feature solid pine timber with tongue-and-groove backing, hand-fitted panelled doors, and dovetail joints on lower drawers. Many were crafted as knock-down frames or split sections to facilitate movement up narrow staircases.

Authentic early-to-mid 20th-century pine pieces display natural age-related character such as visible knots, subtle shrinkage gaps in unglued door panels, turned wooden handles, and dark iron keyhole escutcheons.

A large pine wardrobe serves as a grounding focal point in neutral bedroom schemes, providing warm wood tones against plastered or painted walls. It pairs effectively with linen textiles, woven floor coverings, and muted colour palettes to create a balanced, textured space.

To preserve solid pine, dust regularly with a soft dry cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish along the grain twice per year. Avoid positioning directly beside radiator heat sources or in high humidity to prevent timber movement and cracking.
