We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This burr walnut double wardrobe dates from around 1920 and follows a Queen Anne Revival style. The piece presents a warm brown colour scheme with prominent burr timber grain across its surface, complemented by a double-domed top, twin arched panel doors with wide cross-banded edges, a moulded cornice, and a single brass drop handle positioned centrally on the doors. Standing on short cabriole feet, the wardrobe incorporates traditional woodworking methods including a plinth base and visible mouldings. Measuring 183 cm high by 106.5 cm wide and 54.5 cm deep, it provides substantial storage capacity while separating into sections for ease of movement. The wardrobe functions well in a bedroom or dressing room to organise clothing and accessories while adding traditional character to domestic interiors.

Popularised during the 1920s Queen Anne revival movement, dome-topped wardrobes feature curved upper mouldings, framed panel doors, and highly figured wood veneers such as burr walnut.

These pieces typically consist of a solid hardwood carcass faced with sliced burr walnut veneers, supported by secondary timbers like pine or oak for interior framing and drawers, accompanied by brass hardware.

Authentic 1920s construction exhibits hand-finished veneer matching across doors, traditional dovetail joinery on internal fittings, and period-correct brass teardrop or keyhole escutcheons.

Place the piece against neutral or deeply saturated wall shades to accentuate the warm timber grain, pairing it with linen textiles and contemporary minimalist lighting to balance the classical silhouette.

Dust regularly using a soft microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year, keeping the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent veneer drying or fading.
