This Edwardian pocket watch chain dates from 1900 and uses a double Albert configuration fashioned from rolled gold with a polished golden finish. The design incorporates interlocking curb links interspersed with decorative tubular and twisted bar sections, connected to a central spring bolt ring and fitted with two swivel clasps at the ends. Two mesh tassels hang from the central ring, each terminating in fine fringed threads with small spherical finials. The item is stamped with the word 'gezet' to indicate its German-made rolled gold origin. Measuring 25 cm for each main chain length plus the bolt ring, it serves as a collector's pocket watch accessory suitable for display in a gentleman's library or study cabinet.

An Edwardian double Albert chain is an accessory manufactured around the turn of the twentieth century, designed with two lengths of chain anchored by a central t-bar or ring to secure a pocket watch on one side and a key or fob on the other across a waistcoat.

Rolled gold chains were constructed by mechanically bonding a thin layer of karat gold to a core of base metal, such as brass or copper, providing the appearance and durability of solid gold at a lower weight and cost.

Authentic pieces from this period often display specific makers marks or stamps such as Rolled Gold or 1/10 9ct on the swivel clasps, exhibit characteristic curb or bar link geometry, and show natural surface patination or minor brassing where the outer gold layer has worn over time.

While originally worn across waistcoats, these chains are frequently repurposed today as multi-strand statement necklaces, layered collars, or converted into bracelets by utilizing the original swivel hooks to attach modern pendants and lockets.

To preserve rolled gold, clean gentle surfaces using a soft dry cloth, avoid harsh chemical dips or ultrasonic cleaners that can strip bonded gold layers, and store the item flat in a lined jewellery box to prevent links from kinking.
