Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This is a 1920s Arts and Crafts wardrobe made of solid English oak in warm brown tones with a prominent quarter-sawn grain. The piece stands on a plinth base with stepped mouldings and has two full-length doors. The upper sections display recessed octagonal panels, while the lower sections show mottled timber figuring. Small turned wooden knobs are fitted on the doors alongside a keyhole escutcheon. Inside, the wardrobe contains a top storage shelf, an original chrome hanging rail, and chromed hanging hooks. Measuring 184 cm in height, 106 cm in width, and 53 cm in depth, this wardrobe provides practical vertical clothes storage. It suits placement in a bedroom or dressing room within an English country house setting, serving as a functional storage cabinet for garments and accessories.

Interwar British oak furniture from the 1920s often bridges Arts and Crafts craftsmanship with modern utility, featuring simple geometric panels, visible wood grain, and clean, functional silhouettes.

Pieces from this era typically feature quarter-sawn oak panelling, mortise and tenon joinery, sturdy plinth bases, and turned timber handles, ensuring structural durability.

Look for makers marks or ivory/inset buttons bearing the makers name, alongside distinct design traits such as octagonal fielded panels, simple moulding, and distinctive grain patterns.

Pair the warm timber tones with neutral wall palettes, textured linen bedding, and minimalist iron accents to balance modern design with historic character.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a quality beeswax polish along the direction of the grain twice a year to preserve the timber and finish.
