This Georgian bachelor's chest of drawers uses rich brown mahogany with figured timber grain on the drawer fronts. The piece has a pull-out brushing slide with small round knobs at the top, positioned above two short and two long graduated drawers. The drawers are fitted with brass swan-neck handles and keyhole escutcheons, set within a simple moulded frame. A moulded base sits atop shaped bracket feet at the bottom corners. Overall dimensions measure 73 cm high by 95 cm wide and 45 cm deep. In a contemporary home, the chest functions as practical storage in a bedroom or living space. The surface height provides a suitable platform for a television or fits neatly beneath a low windowsill. The warm timber tones and traditional brass hardware suit classic English country house interiors.

A bachelors chest is a compact eighteenth-century chest of drawers designed for smaller living quarters, characterized by its scaled-down proportions and a pull-out brushing slide used for folding garments.

Georgian cabinetmakers primarily used dense woods such as Cuban or Honduras mahogany, often fitted with solid oak drawer linings and cast brass handles, keyplates, and escutcheons.

Authentic Georgian furniture features hand-cut dovetail joints, oak or pine secondary woods, hand-planed back panels, natural wear around handles, and original brass hardware with cast backplates.

Position the chest as an accent piece in a hallway, bedroom, or living area, balancing its rich timber tones against neutral walls and minimalist decorative objects.

Dust regularly with a soft cloth, apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the wood grain, and keep the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight to protect the original finish.
