This Edwardian maritime bulkhead barometer presents a polished solid brass casing with a circular brass bezel, an inset bevelled edge glass, and wall mounting holes to the back flange. The cream-coloured painted aneroid dial displays black atmospheric pressure markings, serif typography for weather predictions ranging from stormy to very dry, a central pointer needle with a crescent tail, and the retailer signature reading ROBB. MOORE & NEILL LTD GLASGOW. Age-related pitting from the sea air is visible upon the brass surface alongside a deep shine to the case, while the hardware includes a small central adjustment screw above the centre point. Measuring 23 cm high, 23 cm wide, and 9 cm deep, this piece suits placement on a narrow wall space within a gentleman's library, a hallway, or a study. It provides a functional nautical timepiece and weather indicator for daily domestic use.

A bulkhead barometer is a wall-mounted maritime instrument designed to measure atmospheric pressure aboard ships during the Edwardian era. Housed in heavy cast brass to withstand sea conditions, these instruments offered vital weather forecasting data for mariners.

Traditional marine barometers feature heavy solid brass cases, polished bezels, and glass bevels protecting an aneroid capsule mechanism. The dial faces are typically made of painted or enamelled metal with printed or hand-engraved pressure graduations.

Authentic period pieces feature solid brass casing with natural age patination, historical maker marks or trade names printed on the dial, and period-appropriate typography. They are notably heavy and possess a sealed aneroid mechanism rather than modern electronic components.

Position the barometer on a wall alongside framed nautical prints, or mount it as a focal accent in a study, hallway, or cloakroom. The warm metallic tones complement rich timber panelling, deep navy feature walls, or neutral contemporary schemes.

Dust the glass face and brass housing regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to maintain its finish. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that can strip lacquered coatings or damage original surface patination.
