This Orientalist sculpture takes the form of a polychrome terracotta bust of a young Moroccan man, produced around 1900 in Austria by the Goldscheider factory in collaboration with the French artist Paul Prunier. The man wears a draped yellow headscarf and a traditional burnous, set with cold-painted warm brown skin tones and facial hair detailing, and mounted on a dark textured pedestal base. The piece measures 65 cm high, 47 cm wide, and 30 cm deep. Positioned on a sideboard top, this artwork suits a gentleman's library or any traditional and contemporary interior setting. The composition displays a turban with yellow fabric wraps, dark carved facial features including a trimmed beard and moustache, and a square mottled dark grey pedestal base secured with corner pins.

Orientalist terracotta sculpture refers to late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century ceramic figures depicting subjects from North Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, popularized by European makers such as Friedrich Goldscheider in Vienna.

These busts were press-moulded from fine terracotta clay, fired, and then decorated using cold-painted pigments and glazes to achieve realistic skin tones, fabric textures, and intricate garment details.

Authentic pieces typically feature impressed foundry stamps, model numbers, artist signatures near the base, and distinctive cold-painted finishes with textured detailing on drapery and flesh tones.

Position the bust on a sideboard, console table, or within a bookshelf niche to serve as an architectural focal point alongside dark woods, leather, and tailored lighting.

Dust the surface regularly using a dry, soft-bristled brush, avoiding water, chemical cleaners, or damp cloths which can strip or dissolve cold-painted surface pigments.
