Regent Antiques has dated this 17th Century Italian Oil Painting to the 17th Century.
It serves as a classic "betrothal type-scene" in ancient literature, where a future groom journeys to a foreign land and encounters his bride-to-be at a water source.

Giacinto Gimignani, painter, etcher, and engraver, b. Pistoia 1611, d.Rome 1681
By 1630 he had settled in Rome, where he was the pupil of Pietro da Cortona, worked for Barberini and later for French patrons. In the 1650s worked in Florence, Pistoia and Lucca, before returning to Rome.
