Antique Victorian Walnut Upholstered Sofa

Description

A handsome antique Victorian walnut upholstered sofa, dating from the late 19th century. The substantial carved walnut frame features attractive carved detailing to the arms and front rail, raised on turned supports. The sofa retains its original character and proportions and is upholstered in a warm red textured fabric with a small repeat pattern, complemented by matching bolster cushions. A good-sized sofa with excellent decorative appeal.

CONDITION REPORT:

The frame has some age-related wear and marks commensurate with its age and use. There is a well executed historic repair to the carved detail on the right-hand end, which remains sound. The frame is otherwise solid and structurally sound. The upholstery is clean and in good overall condition, with some minor age-related wear but presenting particularly well. Overall, a lovely example in very good condition for its age. As with all our furniture, this piece has been inspected by our experienced carpenter and any necessary repairs have been undertaken to ensure it is structurally sound and ready for use.
