Description

A 19th century English oil on canvas depicting a fox hunt. The landscape depicts gentleman wearing their traditional red hunting attire in hot pursuit of their dogs who have pounced on the prize. The painting is very dirty and would benefit from a good clean with some minor touching in. The gesso frame could also do with some restoration as it does have some losses and shows some novice attempts at restoration. The painting has not been out of the frame for quite some time, there is an old stamp on the back of the canvas and some writing in pencil on the back of the stretcher.

This is a good country house painting showing a traditional english rural pastime.
