This 19th-century Regency sideboard is rendered in warm brown mahogany and flame mahogany veneer, complete with brass ring drop handles on circular backplates. The design incorporates four central small drawers arranged above an arched kneehole, flanked by two large drawers on either side, all standing on straight tapered legs ending in spade feet. The wood displays pronounced figuring across the drawer fronts and top surface. Measuring Height 83 cm, Width 119 cm, Depth 52 cm, this practical storage piece works well in a dining room, hallway, or living space to organise tableware, linens, or daily essentials while providing a useful display surface for lamps or decorative objects.

Originating in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, mahogany sideboards were designed for dining rooms to serve food and store tableware, characterised by refined proportions, kneehole arches, and functional drawer arrangements.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid mahogany and flame mahogany veneers, often featuring pine or oak drawer linings, alongside cast brass handles and dovetail joinery.

Look for hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, original brass hardware, natural wear along drawer runners, and characteristic period traits like tapered legs with spade feet.

Position the piece in a dining area, hallway, or living space, pairing its rich timber tones with contemporary artwork, minimalist lamps, or ceramic vessels to create visual contrast.

Keep the timber away from direct heat sources and intense sunlight, dust regularly with a soft cloth, and apply beeswax polish sparingly along the grain to preserve the patination.
