Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1830 and 1837, William IV furniture bridges the transition between classical Regency symmetry and heavier Victorian ornamentation. Key characteristics include robust proportions, bold flame mahogany veneers, carved scrollwork, and architectural moulding.

Cabinets from this era were primarily constructed using solid mahogany or pine frame carcasses faced with high-quality flame mahogany or rosewood veneers. Internal fittings often utilized deal or oak secondary woods, secured with hand-cut dovetail joinery.

Authentic pieces feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, original brass lock mechanisms, and evidence of hand-planed secondary timbers on the back or underside. Look for timber oxidation underneath surfaces and genuine wear around keyholes and base mouldings.

A dark mahogany side cabinet adds depth and historic contrast against contemporary neutral walls. Positioned in a hallway, dining space, or drawing room, its flat top surface accommodates modern ceramic lamps, framed artwork, or decorative glassware.

Dust surfaces regularly using a soft dry microfiber cloth along the grain line. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish twice a year to preserve timber hydration, avoiding silicone-based sprays and direct sunlight to prevent veneer lifted joints or finish discolouration.
