Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Dutch marquetry of the 18th century is distinguished by intricate floral and foliate patterns inlaid into rich timber veneers like mahogany. Craftsmen used contrasting fruitwoods, boxwood, and bone to create detailed scenes of urns, blossoms, and birds.

These pieces were typically constructed with a solid oak frame, overlaid with fine mahogany or walnut veneers. The elaborate inlaid motifs utilised stained fruitwoods, boxwood, and brass hardware or column capitals.

Authentic 18th century marquetry features hand-cut timber veneers showing subtle surface level variations, natural age-related shrinkage, and fine craquelure in the polish. Hand-planed back panels and traditional dovetail joinery inside drawers also signal genuine period construction.

Position the piece as a focal point in an entry hall or living room against a neutral wall to showcase the detailed wood inlay. Pair it with minimalist modern lighting or abstract artwork to create a balanced dialogue between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Keep the furniture positioned away from direct sunlight, radiator heat sources, and damp conditions to prevent veneer lifting or timber movement. Dust regularly with a dry, soft microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish occasionally to preserve the finish.
