Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

These 1920s single beds date from the Arts and Crafts period and are made by Heals of London from solid oak in a warm brown colour with an original timber finish. Both frames display curved top rails, panelled footboards, square legs, and inset makers labels alongside original quality sprung metal bases. The headboards rise to 87 cm high while the footboards reach 71 cm high, with a width of 92 cm and a depth of 209 cm. They are designed for standard UK single mattresses. Suitable for use in a bedroom, guest room, or country house interior, these bed frames require only a mattress and bed linen to complete them. The solid construction and clean condition make them practical for everyday sleeping arrangements. The traditional timber grain remains visible across the wood surfaces, complemented by the exposed steel wire mesh of the interior mattress support system.

FAQs

Furniture from this era moved away from heavy Victorian ornamentation towards clean lines, functional forms, and high-quality timber work influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement.

Bed frames from this period were predominantly constructed from solid oak, walnut, or mahogany, paired with iron or steel spring mesh bases for support.

Authentic pieces often feature an inlaid ivory, bone, or brass makers badge set into the timber frame, alongside standard mortise and tenon joinery and characteristic timber selection.

Pairing natural oak frames with crisp linen bedding and minimalist nightstands creates a balanced aesthetic suited to guest rooms, childrens spaces, or traditional country homes.

Dust the timber regularly with a soft cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year, ensuring the metal spring bases are kept dry to prevent corrosion.
