Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in France during the early 18th century, a commode is a low, wide chest of drawers designed to hold clothing and household items, often featuring carved aprons, serpentine fronts, and decorative brass mounts characteristic of the Rococo and Louis XV periods.

These pieces were primarily crafted from regional hardwoods such as walnut, oak, and fruitwood, paired with hand-forged brass or bronze handles and escutcheons.

Look for hand-dovetailed drawer joints, hand-sawn secondary woods on drawer linings, subtle structural variations from manual planing, and natural oxidisation around the original metal hardware.

Position the commode as a focal point in an entryway, bedroom, or living space, topped with simple ceramics, a framed mirror, or modern lighting to complement the carved woodwork.

Dust regularly with a soft microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year, keeping the timber positioned away from direct heat sources and extreme moisture.
