Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Limit was established in the late 19th century, utilizing Swiss-manufactured movements known for precision timekeeping. Open-face pocket watches were designed without a protective metal cover over the dial, allowing for quick time readings in professional and everyday settings.

Cases were typically crafted from solid silver, nickel alloy, or rolled gold, paired with high-fired glass-enamel dials. The internal movement components utilize brass plates, steel gears, and synthetic ruby bearings to reduce friction.

Authentic examples feature stamped Swiss hallmarks on the interior case back and movement plates. Dials often display pristine glass enamel with fine line printing, along with distinct serial numbers engraved on the movement.

A pocket watch can be worn traditionally attached to a waistcoat or jacket lapel via an Albert chain. Alternatively, it can be displayed on a desktop pocket watch stand or under a glass dome as a decorative desk piece.

Wind the crown gently once daily until resistance is felt, avoiding overtightening. Keep the timepiece away from water, extreme temperatures, and magnetic sources, and have the mechanical movement serviced by a professional horologist every three to five years.
