Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This pair of single beds dates from the 1920s in a Colonial Revival style, formed from dark brown oak and woven cane. Each bed stands on small castor wheels beneath heavy turned corner posts that extend upwards into carved finials, framing a rectangular headboard inset with a woven cane panel above an exposed sprung metal mattress frame. The dark wood shows a polished grain and subtle variations in tone across the turned vertical timbers and horizontal rails. Measuring 91.4 cm wide and 182.9 cm deep, these twin frames suit a traditional spare bedroom, a children's room, or a spacious guest suite within an English country house setting. They accommodate standard single mattresses resting upon the integrated coiled wire springs, offering a coordinated sleeping arrangement with classic period proportions and visible structural joinery.

FAQs

A bergere single bed frame incorporates woven cane or rattan panelling within the wooden headboard or footboard structure, a style adapted from eighteenth-century French furniture design that gained popularity across British bedmakers.

These bedsteads feature solid oak timber framing, hand-turned corner posts, and natural split-cane weaving integrated into mortise and tenon joinery for structural support.

Authentic pieces feature original woven cane set directly into timber apertures, hand-turned posts, period iron or brass fittings, and consistent patination across exposed wood surfaces.

Arranging a matching pair of dark oak beds side by side with crisp linen bedding creates visual symmetry in guest bedrooms, country homes, or traditional childrens sleeping spaces.

Clean timber surfaces using a dry microfibre cloth and natural beeswax polish, while keeping woven cane lightly hydrated with occasional damp wiping to prevent brittleness.
