Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Admiral Fitzroy barometer is a mid-to-late 19th-century meteorological instrument designed to provide weather forecasts for sea captains and households. Created under the direction of Vice-Admiral Robert FitzRoy, these instruments feature printed instructional charts alongside a main barometer tube, a thermometer, and a chemical storm glass.

These instruments typically consist of an oak, walnut, or mahogany glazed casing holding glass mercury tubes, brass mounting brackets, and paper or ceramic printed dials detailing weather prediction guidelines.

Authentic pieces exhibit paper dial faces with 19th-century typography detailing atmospheric pressure rules, hand-blown glass tubes, brass indicator pointers, and solid timber cabinetry with original joinery techniques.

A vertical wall-mounted barometer serves as functional wall art in study spaces, hallways, or libraries, pairing well with traditional woodwork, framed prints, or modern minimalist backdrops to create visual contrast.

Keep the wood casing dusted with a dry soft cloth and avoid positioning near direct heat sources or damp environments. The glass elements and paper face should be kept away from harsh chemicals and direct sunlight to prevent fading or deterioration.
