This framed 20th century fine art piece is an original drypoint etching of a standing foal by Kurt Meyer-Eberhardt, dating from around 1930. The monochrome paper print displays a plate impression mark, pencil signature, and an inscription, sitting behind glass within a gilded inner slip mount, a secondary mount, and a warm brown simulated walnut veneer frame featuring an ebonised inner moulding. The visual composition captures the subject in a naturalistic style suited for an English Country House aesthetic. Position this artwork above a sideboard in a living room, dining area, or hallway to bring a classic touch of animal portraiture to an interior space. The frame measures 65.5 cm by 55 cm, providing a balanced proportion for wall display. The materials include paper, wood, glass, and gold leaf, complemented by visible wood grain patterns on the veneer frame and subtle reflections from the protective glass layer.

Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking technique where an image is incised directly into a metal plate using a sharp needle. The process creates a characteristic velvety line due to the burr raised on the edges of the incised grooves.

High-grade rag paper, oil-based printing inks, copper plates, and wooden frames with gold leaf mounts were standard materials for twentieth-century printmaking.

Authentic works typically feature a pencil signature in the lower margin, visible plate indentation marks around the image boundary, and distinctive fine cross-hatching techniques.

Position a framed monochrome etching above a timber sideboard or integrate it into a curated gallery wall to add historical narrative to modern living spaces.

Display the artwork away from direct sunlight and high humidity, using acid-free mounting materials and protective glass to prevent foxing and discolouration over time.
