This nineteenth century Islamic Mamluk Revival wash bowl is constructed from warm brass with contrasting silver damascene and copper inlay. The circular basin features elaborate Arabic calligraphic script interspersed with geometric arabesque patterns around the wide rim, alongside a central pierced reticulated grate containing a small domed central finial. Raised mouldings and intricate hand-chased border details define the concentric circular registers across the surface. Measuring 38 cm in diameter and 12 cm in height, the piece sits comfortably atop a sideboard or display cabinet.
