Very Fine carved for black forest sculptures of this type and with touches of paint for the eyes, lips and tong of dog.

Both with the amusing subject of a girl with geese and the boy with a dog standing on marble bases.

All over in original good used condition and original patination, there are no missing pieces.

Black Forest wood carving originated in the Brienz region of Switzerland during the early nineteenth century. Local artisans developed a tradition of hand-carving native timbers into realistic depictions of wildlife, alpine figures, and rustic scenes to sell to Grand Tour travellers.
