Staffordshire pottery ‘The British Volunteers’ jug, c. 1850. Produced to commemorate the Armed Forces engaged in the Crimea campaign, the jug printed in underglaze blue, with a scene of three soldiers around a cannon, at a fortification, the reverse with a scene of soldiers in a camp.
 
Both scenes title ‘THE BRITISH VOLUNTEERS’.
 
Height – 15.5 cm, 6 1/8”.
 
Width (Handle to spout) – 17 cm, 6 5/8”.
 
Condition – Excellent. No damage. No restoration.
