Egyptian Revival design emerged during the nineteenth century following European military campaigns and archaeological discoveries in Egypt. The style incorporates motifs such as sphinxes, obelisks, lotus flowers, and pharaonic headdresses into traditional Western decorative objects and architecture.

These figures were produced by pouring molten iron into detailed sand moulds. After cooling and hand-finishing, the metal was often given a dark patina or black paint finish and mounted on polished stone or marble bases for stability.
