Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Mid-century British pocket watches, particularly those produced in the 1940s, represent a transitional era when domestic horological manufacture flourished in Great Britain. Manufacturers produced reliable mechanical timepieces designed for daily utility, often featuring standardized lever or pin-pallet escapements.

Timepieces from this era typically featured cases made from brass, chrome-plated base metal, or gold plate over base metal. Dials were commonly printed enamel or painted cardboard and glass crystals protected the movement, while presentation boxes were fashioned from cardboard with textured paper linings.

Authentic timepieces generally display manufacturer branding on the dial face alongside country of origin markings such as Made in England near the bottom edge. Verification can also be conducted by examining movement stampings, case hallmarks, and period-correct typography.

A vintage pocket watch can be integrated into modern decor by placing it on a dedicated watch stand or glass dome on an office desk, mantelpiece, or valet tray. Displaying timepieces alongside books or office accessories creates a curated, classic vignette.

Mechanical pocket watches should be kept away from moisture, magnetic fields, and direct sunlight to prevent dial discolouration and movement damage. Winding should be performed gently until resistance is felt, and periodic servicing by a professional horologist is recommended to keep mechanisms lubricated.
