This is an attractive Grand Tour alabaster figure dating from around 1890. The figure of ''Spinario'' , After the Antique, ( Italian School, 19th century) is of a seated boy extracting a thorn from his bare foot.
The carved alabaster figure is on circular plinth standing 29.5 cms high and is in very good condition overall.
This figure is also known as ''Fidele'' and is based on a Greco-Roman bronze sculpture now in the Palazzo Dei Conservatori, Rome.
