This Art Deco chest of drawers dates from 1930 and is constructed in England from burr walnut veneer with a warm brown colour. The piece displays a stepped top drawer structure, book-matched veneer patterns across the drawer fronts, and horizontal metal handles, supported by geometric block feet. The surface is polished, presenting a smooth finish across the five main drawers and the smaller upper drawer. Measuring 118 cm high, 76 cm wide, and 48 cm deep, the unit offers generous interior storage while maintaining a vertical profile. It is suited for placement in a bedroom or dressing room for organizing clothing and personal items, integrating with period or contemporary interior schemes.

Art Deco furniture is characterised by streamlined geometric shapes, bold decorative veneers, and stepped silhouettes that reflected modern industrial design during the interwar period.

Craftsmen frequently utilised highly figured wood veneers such as burr walnut or maple laid over solid timber frames, secured with hand-cut dovetail joints and fitted with metal hardware.

Authentic pieces display symmetrical book-matched veneer patterns, solid drawer linings, period-correct metal or Bakelite handles, and integrated plinth bases or geometric block feet.

Position the piece as a focal storage element against a neutral wall, pairing its rich wood tones with contemporary lighting or understated geometric decor.

Dust regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth, apply high-grade beeswax polish annually, and keep the item away from direct heat sources or high humidity to prevent veneer lifting.
