A George III mahogany bachelors chest of drawers with a brushing slide over four drawers, c1800. The chest stands on bracket feet and retains the original brass handles and escutcheons. It is made from well figured mahogany and has a lovely rich colour and patina…This chest of drawers is a useful size and very nice quality, with oak lined drawers with fine dovetail joints. The drawers have a delicate cockbead detail and there is a moulded edge to the top. Condition: The top is a little paler than the rest of the chest - presumably it has been exposed to sunlight. There are a couple of small splits in the top and a small area on the back corner which appears to have been broken and reattached. The slide is lined with a felt type material which is quite worn. The piece of cockbead on the right hand edge of the slide is missing. There are a few areas of damage and repair to the veneer on the front of the chest, and general surface wear and patina in accordance with age and use. Th...
