Vienna bronzes are cast metal sculptures produced in Austria from the mid-19th century onwards, renowned for their realistic detail, naturalistic proportions, and fine patination or cold-painted finishes.

Most bronzes from this period were created using the lost-wax casting technique, allowing founders to capture minute details such as saddlery and musculature before mounting the cast onto a marble base.

Authentic pieces often bear maker stamps or foundry marks, crisp cold chiselling details, and authentic wear on raised areas, alongside a balanced weight consistent with solid bronze.

Place the sculpture on a polished wooden sideboard, desk, or mantelpiece where low ambient lighting can highlight the textured surface and contours of the bronze.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and avoid water or harsh chemical detergents. Apply a light coating of microcrystalline wax annually to protect the delicate surface patina.
