This nineteenth-century alpine folk art farmhouse dresser is a one-piece solid pine item measuring 183 cm high, 100 cm wide, and 51 cm deep. Finished in dark green paint with contrasting red trim and warm timber rails, the piece exhibits hand-painted floral panels on the drawers and lower door, a scalloped upper moulding, and turned wooden drawer knobs. The top section comprises an open plate rack with three horizontal plate rails, while the base contains a flight of four stacked drawers alongside a single cupboard door featuring a worn hand hold, accompanied by visible dings and marks indicative of age. Practical for everyday use in a modern kitchen, dining room, or hallway, the dresser provides open display space for tableware on the upper shelves alongside concealed storage within the lower cupboard and drawers. The traditional design suits rustic and country-style interiors, offering both surface display capacity and functional storage space. The durable solid wood construction ensures stability, while the hand-painted decoration adds distinct character to daily domestic routines.

An Alpine folk art dresser is a regional storage cabinet originating from mountainous areas of Central Europe, typically constructed from native softwoods like pine and decorated with painted floral motifs.

These pieces were typically constructed from pine, fir, or fruitwoods and finished with hand-applied tempera or oil paints using hand-carved joinery and forged iron fittings.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, original mineral-based paint finishes showing natural wear around handles, and hand-forged iron hinges or locks.

Position the piece as a focal point in a dining area or kitchen, filling the open rack with white ceramics or stoneware to contrast with the dark painted woodwork.

Clean gently with a soft dry microfiber cloth, avoiding liquid detergents or harsh waxes that could damage or lift the historical paint layer.
